We are pleased to inform you that Security and Safety is accepting submissions for its Special Issue on “Security and Safety for Next Generation Industrial Systems”.
Currently, the next-generation industrial systems have attracted a lot of attention, which has raised a new round of innovation in various areas, including smart manufacturing, transportation, and the petrochemical industry, etc. Industry 5.0 aims to promote sustainable, human-centric industrialization and further the digitalization and intelligence of industrial production. As the core foundation of various industrial fields, the next generation industrial control systems will be evolved towards 6G communication, endogenous intelligent control, and large-scale digital twin deployment. Different from traditional industrial cyber threats, attacks in next-generation industrial systems can lead to more severe consequences. These novel vulnerabilities create a vast attack surface, covering both cyber and physical attack vectors. Unlike traditional cyber threats, such as privacy leakage, industrial attacks may cause more severe physical damage, including operational interruptions, equipment damage, business waste, intellectual property theft, and significant system health/security risks. These novel and comprehensive vulnerabilities increase the attack surface with a deep chain reaction of threats in both cyber and physical domains. Therefore, this special issue aims to study the security and safety across cyber and physical domains of next-generation industrial systems.
This Special Issue on “Security and Safety for Next Generation Industrial Systems” aims to provide a platform for the global academic and industrial communities to conduct in-depth research on integrated security in Industrial Control Systems. This special issue covers (but not be limited to) the following topics:
- The security threat situation and new trends of industrial systems
- Integrated solution for industrial information security and functional security
- Intrusion detection technology for industrial systems
- Security assessment technology for industrial systems
- Event response and fault recovery strategies for industrial systems
- Industrial security communication protocol
- Secure and efficient computing, communication, and control architecture
- Industrial formal standardization and safety verification
- Industrial blockchain
- Novel industrial cryptography technologies
- Industrial security and safety large models
- Security human-computer interaction strategy
